Assistant Softball Coach/Assistant Coordinator of Athletic Events
The Assistant Softball Coach/Assistant Coordinator of Athletic Events assists with all aspects of the University of Mary softball program while providing support for game day operations and event management for assigned athletic contests. The appointee will support the Head Softball Coach in all aspects of managing a competitive NCAA Division II program. In addition, the appointee will assist with the execution of assigned home athletic events, including event setup, game management support, and post-event teardown, following all rules and regulations of the University of Mary, the NSIC, the ACHA, and the NCAA.
A key responsibility is the enthusiastic implementation of and personal investment in the University’s ‘Greatness Through Virtue’ whole-person development model.
Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:
- Assist the Head Softball Coach with all aspects of program management, including coaching, recruiting, scholar-athlete development, practice planning, travel, camps and clinics, budget responsibilities, compliance with University, conference, and NCAA policies, and other duties related to the successful operation of the softball program.
- Assist with game day operations and event management for assigned athletic contests, including facility setup, event preparation, venue logistics, support of game personnel, welcoming visiting teams and officials, maintaining athletic facilities, equipment, and game day materials, post-event teardown, attendance at departmental meetings, assistance with specials events as assigned, and other related athletic department operational responsibilities..
- Performs other related duties as assigned and requested
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Masters’ degree preferred
- Upholds and promotes the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
- Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
- Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and throughout the university in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
Knowledge and Skills include:
- Understanding the "Greatness Through Virtue" core strategies and being able to facilitate the growth of our Scholar-Athletes in the virtues of academic life
- Must possess a good driving record and pass a background check
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules, standards, practices, and procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills
