Mechanical Supervisor
The Mechanical Systems Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a high quality of routine care and continuous improvement of the University of Mary mechanical systems. Primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of mechanical systems, including but not limited to preventative and corrective maintenance, systems programming and controls, management of the mechanical staff, implementing improvement projects and renovations, managing contracted services, and support of other activities necessary for continued plant operations.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:
- Provide direct, daily supervision of staff members, including reassignment of resources based on changing priorities and working conditions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust mechanical program for all routine preventative maintenance items, including but not limited to HVAC, refrigeration, boiler and propane plants, plumbing, fire protection, etc.
- Manage work order process to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of University repair needs.
- Install, program, and maintain systems, specifically including but not limited to building automation controls and other related systems
- Plan, schedule, and implement renovation and improvement projects.
- Manage tools and equipment; including inventory of parts, supplies, and other materials.
- High school diploma or GED required
- 10+ years of experience as an HVAC technician (two of which may be waived by appropriate schooling in technical college)
- 4+ years supervisory or foreman experience
- Master Mechanical and/or Master Plumber license is preferred
- Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
- Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
- Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Physical Plant and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to communicate clear, concise verbal and written messages
- Ability to present a professional image
- Ability to read and implement blueprints and specification books
- Ability to supervise and lead staff including scheduling, training, mentoring, performance observations, disciplinary actions, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of components and equipment, installation, troubleshooting, etc.
- Experience in installation of projects
- Experience in system installation, controls, and administration
- Experience with all building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.
- Highly safety conscious and the ability to follow all necessary safety standards
- Knowledge of safety equipment usage (e.g. AED, fire extinguishers, etc.), proper cleaning methods, and safety measures essential to the work environment
- Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes related to mechanical systems
