Director of Undergraduate Nursing
The Director of Undergraduate Nursing provides collaborative academic leadership for all prelicensure and undergraduate nursing pathways within the College of Nursing. Working closely with the Dean of Nursing, the Director advances the mission of the University of Mary by supporting excellence in teaching, student formation, curriculum quality, regulatory compliance, faculty development, and stakeholder engagement. This role has significant responsibility for operational oversight of undergraduate programs in organizing (scheduling), directing (leadership, public relations), and evaluating (program evaluation, assistance with accreditation, quality improvement, professional development, personnel management) of pre-licensure undergraduate nursing program. The Director serves as a key partner to the Dean in fostering a culture of academic rigor, innovation, professional integrity, and Benedictine hospitality across all undergraduate programs.

Responsibilities Include:
Administrative
- Oversees design, ongoing assessment and evaluation and quality improvement of the undergraduate curriculum considering feedback from the Community of Interest and with collaboration of program coordinators and dean of nursing
- Promotes and exemplifies positive, working relationships with stakeholders, including University faculty, staff and administrators; colleagues; clinical partners, the general public and others
- In collaboration with the Dean of Nursing, conducts regular meetings with the undergraduate nursing faculty/staff
- Assists the Dean of Nursing with preparing accreditation and regulatory requirements; is up to date with state and national accreditation requirements for undergraduate nursing; gathers information for annual reports, self-studies, substantive changes, and helps to organize site visits
- Prepares undergraduate course schedules each term in partnership with the Dean and program coordinators, ensuring adequate teaching coverage, simulation/lab utilization, and workload balance.
- Collaborates with the Dean in assigning faculty teaching responsibilities, orienting new faculty, and supporting professional development plans.
- Co-leads regular undergraduate faculty meetings with the Dean of Nursing to foster communication, collaboration, and mission-centered culture.
- Fosters a culture of continuous quality improvement by assisting the dean with evaluations of faculty
- Actively assists with program recruitment goals established by the Dean of Nursing
- Provides leadership presence at key undergraduate events including orientations, pinning ceremonies, recognition events, and program information sessions.
- Partners with marketing, admissions, and advancement teams to promote the visibility and excellence of undergraduate nursing programs.
- Teaches undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses in areas of expertise, demonstrating high-quality pedagogy, Benedictine values, and strong student engagement.
- Advises undergraduate nursing students as appropriate.
- Participates in course development, evaluation, and scholarship related to teaching and learning.
- Maintain RN licensure requirements
- Required: Earned Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
- Current, unencumbered license to practice in the state of North Dakota
- Recommend three (3) years experience in practice
- Evidence of vision and leadership in academic programs
- Preferred: Earned Doctorate in Nursing or related field
- Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
- Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
- Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the College of Nursing and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
- Experience in curriculum design, academic operations/management, and competency-based assessment
- Active role in institutional governance
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Collaborative management style; excellent communication skills

- Understanding of national trends and issues in higher education and nursing
- Ability to interact effectively with relevant campus constituencies
